Before installing the Grass Gator onto you trimmer, you have to remove your original line head from your trimmer by removing the spool cover, the spool, and the spring. You will also remove the original spool housing by removing the small bolt holding it onto the shaft.

Once you are down to the bare shaft, install the metal adapter as shown above. Next, select the bolt from the Grass Gator kit that fits the shaft of your trimmer.

At this point, fit the plastic adapter into the hexagon recess area of the Grass Gator head. It will only go on one way. Now you will shove the shank of the bolt through the plastic adapter and into the grass Gator head. You will now slide the Grass Gator head with the adapter and the bolt in it down onto your shaft and use the Grass Gator head as a wrench and screw it onto the trimmer. It only needs to be hand tight and there should be no up and down play on the shaft.

Congratulations! You are now ready to use the Grass Gator.
