For all other Grass Gator heads use the following instructions:

The first thing you need to do is remove the spool cover and the spool from your original spool housing - the same procedure you use for replacing your trimmer line. The original spool housing stays on the trimmer.

Next, slide the black spacer cup from the Grass Gator kit onto your shaft - open side towards to trimmer and the closed side towards the ground - and sit it inside your original spool housing. It will take the place of the original spool that you removed and give the Grass Gator a platform to sit on. Take the large flat washer from the kit, slide it over the shaft and let it sit on top of the spacer cup.

Select the nut or bolt from the Grass Gator kit that fits the shaft of your trimmer. Make sure that it is a proper fit. If the correct nut or bolt is not in the kit, call us at 800-210-9949 or email us here and we will send you the correct fitting at no charge.

Pick up the Grass Gator head and hold it so that you are looking down at the side that has the hexagon recess area around the hole in the center of the head. This is the side of the Grass Gator that points toward the ground. Place the head of the nut or bolt into the hexagon recess area.

Slide the Grass Gator head onto your shaft with the nut or bolt head pointing toward you. The Grass Gator head now works as a wrench on the nut or bolt. Screw the Grass Gator onto your trimmer until it is hand tight - and you are done. Note: there should be no up and down play when the Grass Gator is properly installed.

Congratulations! Your Grass Gator is now properly installed and ready to use.
