Before installing the Grass Gator onto you trimmer, you have to remove your original line head from your trimmer by removing the spool cover, the spool, and the spring. You will also remove the original spool housing from the shaft by lifting it off..

Once you are down to the bare shaft, install the metal adapter as shown. Next, select the nut from the Grass Gator kit that fits the shaft of your trimmer.

Now you will place the nut into the hexagon recess area in the Grass Gator head. You will slide the Grass Gator head with the nut in it down onto your shaft and use the Grass Gator head as a wrench and screw it onto the trimmer. It only needs to be hand tight and there should be no up and down play on the shaft.
